Crude? Yup.
But that's this week's throwback song. The songwriting challenge has stalled a bit for the group, and I hit the dreaded writer's block trying to write something other than another angry political song. Instead of putting out something new I pivoted to start working on a rewrite of a Snapface song because everything I tried to write this week, sans prompt, has sucked. LOL. More on that particular rewrite in a future blog post.
Pornhub Rebound was spawned from an offhanded comment from Snapface's signer Rob. He had a disappointing period of romance and at one practice said something to the effect of “I don't want to see a hook up while I'm having my morning coffee". That's all it took for a song about masturbation to be born. Bryce already had the framework of the music and I dug in to the lyrics. I know the subject matter isn't everyone's cup of tea but dammit I like this song. I especially like the outro with the “I think I'm going blind” refrain.
I probably haven't mentioned this previously so personnel for most of the Snapface songs are Bryce Ramos on guitar, Josh Brown on drums, Rob Scullin on vocals, my beloved wife Shari on vocals, and me on bass and occasional vocals (bit of background vox here from me). We never recorded this one in a studio so this is a live take from practice, warts and all. Near the end of the band I got things set up for pretty decent practice recordings so this won't be like the olden days when we'd set up a boom box and just hit record. So there's that, at least!
