Bonus blog; Time Change and loss (One More Hour)

This time of year is tough for everyone, especially our pets!  Can we just agree that changing the clocks is friggin' dumb, antiquated, and no longer valid?  Also, the constant news reminders to change your clocks… nearly every device now does that for you?  Who is this message for?  Oh, I know… the butler who has to reset the Rolex collection. LOL

Damn dog is going to want to eat at 4 every day this week. ;-)

Anyhoo… this is a song I wrote sometime around 2002/2003 for Smoke Up jOhnny.  My grandfather passed in October and I had the thought; if we really gained an hour could I get that hour with him?

We never officially recorded the song  with SMUj although i have a couple of live versions with me singing.  We did finally record it with Snapface.  Rob takes the lead, Shari the harmonies, I'm singing the line on the outro.

Not sure if I can link to the Apple Music version but it's out there on the One More Sunrise EP.  Here's a spotify link.

And here's the lyrics;

One More Hour

Time has a funny way of rushing past us all
You never think about needing more until you hit the fall
And once you've hit it and realize it's useless to pursue
Then is the time that regret can grab ahold of you

Never understood the concept of being fragile
I see that now
The only thing I ever understood was being invincible
That's the only thing the vision of youth will allow

The vibrant colors of autumn
Will always remind me of you
As I set my clocks back
I wish the hour I gained was one more hour spent with you

One more hour spent with you

And when I cry in the shower it's so no one can see my tears
I'm not ashamed to grieve but it's where I'm alone and where I relive our years
As each hour passes the less the pain bites
But memories fade with the pain
and keeping the memories takes a constant fight

The vibrant colors of autumn
Will always remind me of you
As I set my clocks back
I wish the hour I gained was one more hour spent with you

One more hour spent with you

the vibrant colors of autumn (one more hour spent with you)
