The prompt for week 2 was Healing.
OK, here we go. Can I do this? I ended up landing on a topical theme, for me. Fear, and the way it's used by politicians to give you something to be afraid of so you'll support their bullshit agendas. It's one of the things my wife hears me bitch about constantly; Fear is Control. The political climate of today is 100% fear based and not collaborating to GSD (get shit done (as espoused by PA Governor Josh Shapiro). I don't care if you're a republican, democrat, independent, or libertarian the whole point of serving in a political office should be to get shit done. And the whole point of being a human should be to be a decent person. My life philosophy is simple. Don't be a dick.
Once I landed on the theme the song came together fairly quickly.
On this demo I decided I'd go with a full band sound because I had a day off during the week. Into the Yurt Rock library for drum loops…. I found the loops I wanted but couldn't find a good ending sample so I reached into the way back machine and opted for the classic 70's fade out.
This is also one of the first times I've attempted any kind of guitar solo. It's only a two string, two note thing but I'm actually pretty happy with the idea of it, if not the execution. Big thanks to Mr. Ken Bethea for the inspiration on how a simple guitar thing can be effective.
On this song I played my Schecter six string bass, full of fuzz. There is an acoustic in there, my Hummingbird, but I buried it in the mix. The electric guitar is my Gretsch.
I threw a bunch of vocal effects in, some for emphasis, some to give me artificial harmonies. I suck at finding and signing harmonies but I wanted to put a little something in there.

Lyrics
For their own benefit
For their own purposes
They sow the fear
To keep the power they revere
Making you afraid
Making you their prey
Suits their purpose
Feeding on your carcass
Kneeling
In quiet contemplation
Feeling
Like the roof is going to cave
Stealing
A sideways glance at salvation
Healing
From their damaging conclave
They seek validation
Call it good intentions
Their paving the road to hell
with their wild delusions
Making you afraid
Making you their prey
Suits their purpose
Feeding on your carcass
Kneeling
In quiet contemplation
Feeling
Like the roof is going to cave
Stealing
A sideways glance at salvation
Healing
From their damaging conclave
Heal
